This site is located approximately 130 metres downstream of Poutu Intake at NZMS 260: T19: 540268.

The minimum flow is 16 cubic metres per second.

Flow in the Tongariro River downstream of Poutu Intake may fall below 16 cubic metres per second as a result of operation changes at Rangipo Power Station. Flow should be restored to 16 cubic metres per second within two hours.

Recreational flows of 35 cubic metres per second will be released from Poutu Intake on three Saturdays each year between 1 February - 30 September, in the same weekend as recreational flows from Rangipo Dam. The dates for recreational releases are set in agreement between Genesis Energy and the New Zealand Recreational Canoeing Association.
